Dedicated to our precious son James
Trees and small boys
Come together often
With scuffed knees
And fractured bark.
Trees and small boys
Stretch limbs to the sky
Whilst bathing in
Morning sunlight.
Trees and small boys
Flourish in parks
And overgrown gardens
Where, they grow and thrive.
Trees and small boys
Delight in soft rain
On bedraggled hair
And quenched leaves.
Trees and small boys
Care not about time
All their seasons
Are for living.
Trees and small boys
Grow soon to old boys
With scars of yesterday’s knees
And memories of fractured bark.
