Messages of support

We can all do something to create a kinder and more compassionate world. Elaine has decided to use her writing talents to help support the causes dear to her heart. In doing so, she sets an example for others to follow. I hope this book is a huge success and, through the donation Elaine makes for every copy sold, brings an end to animal cruelty a step closer.

Will Travers OBE, President of Born Free Foundation

Three things shine out from Elaine’s new poems (In Our Hearts): her Christian faith, her warm heart and her commitment to the welfare of human beings – in this case, those who live and work at that marvellous place, St Elizabeth Hospice.

Fred Sedgwick, writer, poet and educator

The poems in Always A Hero will make you smile, make you think and one goes to the heart of the appeal. Enjoy the book, and be aware you are helping to build something very special.

Stewart White, BBC Look East presenter

I hope you enjoy Elaine’s book of poetry (Always a Hero) – not only is it for a great cause but it’s good fun as well… I’m sure she’s been peeping inside my handbag! (see “My Mum’s Handbag”); and her poem for Sean left me with a lump in my throat…

Lesley Dolphin, BBC Radio Suffolk presenter

It is appropriate that the proceeds from the sale of Shining Like Stars, featuring poetry for children alongside poetry for Christians, should go to benefit Tearfund’s ‘Work a Miracle’ campaign which so importantly brings the work of preventing HIV in children to the attention of the church. Her writing captures the human faces and consequences of suffering. It is these faces that God sees alongside our own. If this is how God sees, so should we see likewise.

The Revd David Peck, Secretary to the Archbishop of Canterbury for International Development
